Ms. Patty Eljaiek joined the Sacred Heart of Jesus School faculty in 2016 and teaches Visual Art to students in PK3, UPK4, and Kindergarten through 8th Grade. She is also the Head Teacher of Art, Play & Learn, School Skills and Preschool Steps Programs at Gymboree Play and Music. Prior to joining Sacred Heart of Jesus School, Ms. Eljaiek was a Teaching Artist at Xmentor at Xmental, a non-profit organization that worked with at risk youth to mentor and cultivate artistic development and redirect creative impulses toward positive outcomes. Specifically, Ms. Eljaiek planned, implemented, and developed wall murals, working with interesting kids and legendary graffiti artists.
Ms. Eljaiek also served as Media Specialist at Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs School in Forest Hills, New York, where she worked with faculty to integrate art, music, math and science into students' core standards through effective use of technology, research and organizational skills. Prior to this position, Ms. Eljaiek served as Pre-K Head Teacher at Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs School and Pre-K Head Teacher at Church in the Gardens School, also in Forest Hills, New York.
Ms. Eljaiek received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts at Queens College and is a candidate for her Master of Art Education in Secondary Education.
When she is not teaching, she spends her free time designing and producing jewelry, and spending time with her husband, who is a jazz musician.
